Who we are
We are a group of ordinary Zimbabweans united by the desire to build a transformed Zimbabwe We are bound by faith in a better future for our nation. That faith is what gets us out of bed in the morning and keeps us going from day to day.
RADICAL, which is the values-focussed arm of social transformation group Network58, was launched in June 2019 in Harare.
We champion the values of Respect, Accountability, Discipline, Integrity, Courage, Attitude and Love in the nation of Zimbabwe through advising, advocating, coaching, mentoring, reporting, storytelling, and training.
Vision
A transformed Zimbabwe.
Mission
To advocate, contribute, facilitate, mobilise and network for a transformed Zimbabwe through national values transformation.
Values
We believe that if we are to truly transform Zimbabwe, we need to subscribe to these RADICAL values:
Respect
Consider the feelings, wishes and rights of others.
Accountability
Be the primary cause of something — and accept that you will either be credited or blamed for it.
Discipline
Follow the rules and commit to a code of behaviour. Work consistently toward a vision.
Integrity
Be honest and have strong moral principles.
Courage
Speak and act according to your beliefs especially in the face of fear, danger, or pain.
Attitude
Maintain a positive outlook about things, people, and situations.
Love
Show love to everyone without holding back.
What we believe
Our value system in Zimbabwe has been corrupted by negative political and economic values over the years. The result is seen in the many social ills that are ingrained in who we are and what we do, so much so that we have lost our identity and lowered our moral values. We know and believe that it doesn’t have to be that way. And so we strive daily to create a Zimbabwe where:
- We are all committed to building a better nation
- We all understand what “a better nation” means
- We are accountable and take personal responsibility for our actions
- We are selfless, generous, trustworthy and have integrity
- We are law-abiding and full of compassion toward one another
- We are loyal and united as one people without factions
- We actively work to eradicate drug abuse and sexual immorality
- We despise anger and hate-filled speech towards each other
- We are disciplined and loyal in our workplace, at home and in our community
- We shun laziness and praise hard work
- We reject greed and the desire for quick money gained at the detriment of others
- We reject violence against women and the breakdown of the family unit
- We strive for superior service delivery, first-class customer service and quality workmanship in both the public and private sector
A call to arms
It’s time for us as Zimbabweans to go back to the basics. From our homes to our schools to our workplaces and institutions, we must purposely live out our core values.
Each and every one of us can play a part, and it starts by embracing RADICAL values.
The fact is that Zimbabwe’s future has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with how we will answer the call to be RADICAL in our day-to-day lives.
This won’t be an overnight event, but instead it’s will be a continual process, a torch to be passed on from one generation to the next.
We can’t afford to wait. We must start now.
