Brand new year, brand new beginnings. 2022 looks set to be great. Corona taught us that life is fragile and that we should live our very best lives each single day. We live not only for ourselves, but we should endeavour to impact our societies and communities to make life better for others. Part of how we do this is by promoting the right values that allow everyone to flourish, person by person, community by community and nation by nation.
After the successful launch of our RADICAL program in June 2019, we had envisaged that by now the entire country would be singing the values transformation song. We had no idea what lay ahead of us with COVID and all that came with it, the lockdowns, the restrictions on movement and the way we had to realign our thinking completely from what it used to be. This single story literally transformed the entire world in an instant, bringing fear, grief, uncertainty and poverty amongst other things. If anything, the values we espouse in our RADICAL message were completely eroded. The fear eroded the respect, poverty eroded discipline and love was in short supply as people became divided over vaccines or by travel bans that physically separated family and friends. Overall, the language of the world was very much less loving than what we have ever seen before.
Bringing it back to our Zimbabwean context we are grateful to God that life is somewhat getting back to normal as we have so much to do. We halted all our in-person training programs and talks because of the restrictions and we now need to get back to some serious work. All indicators show that our national values are still in a downward spiral, and we need everyone to participate in a RADICAL values transformation. Iwe neni tine basa.
